First Lieutenant Shi is a native of Queens, New York. In May 2021, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in November 2021 through Officer Candidate School. Upon graduating The Basic School in June 2022, Second Lieutenant Shi executed orders to 7th Marine Regiment and conducted on-the-job training under the Maintenance Management Officer.
In September 2022, Second Lieutenant Shi reported to Logistics Officer Course aboard Camp Johnson, North Carolina and graduated in December 2022 as Distinguished Graduate and Motor Transport Association Honor Graduate. Following graduation, she received orders to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines and was assigned as the Maintenance Management Officer from December 2022 to May 2023.
Second Lieutenant Shi was appointed as the Assistant Logistics Officer in May 2023. During this time, she supported company to battalion-level training, including Service Level Training Exercise (SLTE) 5-23. In October 2023, Second Lieutenant Shi deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of Unit Deployment Program-West (UDP-W) 24.1. First Lieutenant Shi was promoted to her present rank in November 2023. While on deployment, First Lieutenant Shi participated in exercises including Stand-In Force Exercise (SIFEX) 23 in CATC Camp Fuji and Korea Viper 24.1. She served as the senior logistics advisor for 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines' Coastal Defense Cruise Missile Mobile Training Team, providing crucial support for bilateral training, education, and expert guidance to a priority partner force in the Western Pacific.
Upon redeployment in April 2024, she received orders to 7th Marine Regiment and was appointed as the Regimental Motor Transport Officer. During this period, First Lieutenant Shi led a platoon of Marines in the execution of several major exercises, including Service Level Training Exercise 1-25, 1st MarDiv’s FY25 Squad Competition, and multiple infantry battalions’ Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluations (MCCRE).
In May 2025, First Lieutenant Shi received orders to NROTC Houston Consortium to serve as the Marine Officer Instructor and Assistant Professor of Naval Science.
First Lieutenant Shi’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
